The R&D Dividend: Knowledge and Growth

Abstract
Examines research and development as a source of knowledge and economic growth, with a focus on international development and finance institutions. Using World Bank, UNESCO and other official data, it looks at global and regional R&D spending since 2000, compares the budgets of major multilateral institutions, and reviews evidence on the economic returns to public research. It argues for sustained investment in research at national and multilateral level.
