Abstract

Looks at what it will cost to finance Africa's energy transition. Using public data, the paper measures the gap between the more than USD 200 billion a year needed by 2030 and actual investment, reviews solar corridors, large hydropower projects and early green-hydrogen projects, and presents twenty charts on capacity, investment and access. It recommends blended finance, regulatory reform and cross-border energy corridors.
