Africa's Youth Dividend: Future Workforce

Abstract

Examines Africa's demographic dividend from a human-capital angle. Using World Bank time series and other sources, the paper looks at population trends, education, skills mismatches, labour-force participation, unemployment, NEET rates and digital connectivity in selected countries. It finds that the working-age share is starting to rise, but low investment in education, weak digital literacy and high NEET rates put the dividend at risk, and it ends with policy recommendations.
